My name is Wendy and I learnt to sew when I was about 10 years old. I would watch my Mum making and altering things. She taught me a lot and would let me use her sewing machine which was a green Husqvarna Viking. I picked it up off and on over the years but never felt I was very good at it. I recently lost my Mum and have had a very hard time with my grief journey. I used to read a lot and found that suddenly I couldn’t read at all – my mind was so full I couldn’t read a page and remember what I had read. I couldn’t watch TV without drifting off into my own space. I started to sew again and felt close to my Mum every time I did. I have found that it is the only thing that helps me relax and process stuff. I started in July/August 2021 and now just want to sew all of the time!
I discovered a number of Sewing Vlogs and watch them religiously. These ladies will never know how much they helped me climb out of the rabbit hole I felt I had fallen into. I am not confident enough to venture into the world of Vlogging myself but have kept a Blog before so I thought I would keep a record of my sewing in this way instead, along with Instagram posts. It will be an honest account as I particularly find it refreshing when sewers share their fails as well as their triumphs.
I have stuck with the name Anntaurus as this is the name I have used previously for card crafting and digital scrapbook kit designing.
